How to Perform Wordpress & Plugins Updates

It is important to keep Wordpress and any installed plugins up-to-date to ensure the system remains secure and running well. We suggest performing updates as soon as they become available and performing a full backup prior to each update as sometimes issues can be encountered.

Wordpress will alert you in the admin area when new updates are required with a notification on all pages, along with a red circle icon indicating how many plugin updates are required.

Performing a Site Backup

1. On the left side menu, click on the All-in-One WP Migration menu and select Backups from the sub menu.
2. Click the Create Backup button from the next screen, which will trigger a progress screen showing the status of the backup which may take a couple of minutes to process.
3. Once complete click the Download Backup button which will save a backup copy of the site to your local computer and can be restored in the event of an issue.

Updating Wordpress

1. Click the Please Update Now link which appears at the top of all pages when a new update is available.
2. From the next page, click the Update Now button.
3. A new screen will appear and display progress of the update.
4. Once completed a success page will appear. Now is a good time to visit the frontend of the website to ensure all site features are working correctly.

Updating Wordpress Plugins

1. On the left side menu, click on the Plugins menu option and select the Installed Plugins option
2. On the Plugins page, all installed plugins will be listed. Any plugins that require updating will display the below notification:
   
3. Click the Update Now link to update each plugin, which will show a loading icon while the plugin is updating and a success tick once complete.
4. Once all updates are completed, visit the front-end of the website to ensure all site features are working correctly.
