Over the last few months we have been working with BFSD Global, a skills training company based in Sydney to develop their first iPhone application. BFSD came to us with the requirement to be the first training company worldwide to offer a training course via the increasingly popular iPhone, giving individual users the option to undertake training where and when they choose.
Win@Sales, which delves into the do’s and don’ts of making a successful sales call, was the first course to be taken onto the mobile format and is now available on the App Store for download.
See screen shots below or download the full application here – www.itunes.com/apps/win@sales

We are now very proud to offer iPhone development as a new cutting edge service to all our clients.

Early on in May, we completed and launched a brand new website for CBC Bearings, the national bearing and power transmission company opted for Thomas Marsden to update their existing website after almost 10 years on the static HTML version. The new site features a full content management system, many, many dynamic features including blog and some very cleaver Google maps integration. This project is defiantly worth a look if you are planning to update your website or implement a large scale content management system.

Headed down to the Cebit exhibition on thursday afternoon... To walk around at an event of that size and reputation, not feeling terribly impressed with the exhibitors quality or innovation leads me to believe that Thomas Marsden is defiantly on par, offering cutting edge digital agency services across web and mobile development. I was quite impressed with the haircuts in the web design / development corner though...

When implementing a well thought out marketing campaign it can sometimes seem like a little bit of a black art to find out exactly what’s working and what’s not…especially if you run multiple campaigns through the more traditional print mediums such as newspaper, direct mail or letterbox drops.
In the following article, we have noted a number of points that can really help narrow down where your enquiries are coming from, and where to keep putting your advertising dollar to ensure the best outcomes for your business.
The old ‘How did you hear about us’ line
One of the most obvious solutions is to simply ask the customer quite literally – how did you hear about us? This question can be posed in many situations including: sales staff at the point of sale, on order forms or online enquiry forms and checkouts.
A lot of business / sales models allow this question but there are some that don’t, for instance amusement parks would have trouble asking each customer how they found out about them while queued up for the rollercoaster, or you simply may want to take a more transparent approach.
1800 / 1300 Numbers
1800, 1300 and 13 numbers can now be registered and setup with call statistics giving you a valuable tracking solution. Simply alternate phone numbers in your ads or promotions and you have a simple way to track which enquires are coming from where.
Promotion URL’s
If you direct customers to your website from your traditional media, why not direct them to a special address for that promotion, this way you can track how many users logged onto your website after seeing your promotion. An example of this is:
www.mysite.com.au/promo
Website Analytics
Your website is most commonly (especially for products targeted at under 30’s) the final step before a potential customer makes an enquiry. Employing a good analytics package on your website such as Google Analytics (Free) is an excellent way to differentiate traffic that originates from search engines, other websites, or by a user accessing your site directly.
Customer Surveys / Focus Groups
For some, focus groups may help to aid statistics gathered from other areas by gathering very specific data from a cross section of your clients. Most customers will be happy to complete a short survey about your products and marketing, which is a simple solution to find out where you are attracting customers from and also a little bit more about your market’s habits.
On the other end, full blown statistical options exist from focus groups, to product sampling, to market research to help identify and plan advertising spending.
