Future of Web DesignFuture of Web Design is an internationally renowned event bringing together some of the most talented web designers and developers from around the world. This year’s first event in London was held over three days, beginning with a full day workshop and two days of conference talks.

Thomas Marsden elected to send Tyce Clee, one of our resident web designers, over to London for the event in an effort to stay at the very forefront of international web design and development.

The full day workshop presented an excellent opportunity to focus on one topic, and Thomas Marsden chose the iOS workshop with Sarah Parmenter, an expert in iOS app design. Throughout the day many methods and design tactics were discussed, including the importance on deciding what type of app you wish to develop, why, and who the target audience is.

After a full day of planning and design, each three-person team within the group presented an app based on a brief provided by Sarah. The workshop provided a fantastic chance to dive deep into one topic, and nail home some solid work techniques and methods in order to maintain efficiency and increase the user experience.

Offering two tracks for a wide choice in topics and discussion points, Carsonified delivered a well-rounded and informative conference experience. ‘Responsive web design’, first inspired by Ethan Marcotte’s article on A List Apart, was a major dialogue point throughout the three days. The process involvs designing a website to be digested in a majority of devices available to users these days, including iPhone / iPad’s, Android phones, various tablets, laptops and widescreen cinema displays. Also on the agenda was the importance of ‘designing for humans’, where usability and friendliness of design were are the forefront in an effort to increase the relevance of a site to users, as well as encourage them to continue browsing and sharing.

Encouraging networking with new friends and future colleagues, exciting new horizons in web design, and great food / coffee the entire time – Future of Web Design was well worth the trip. Tyce will be bringing home not just new skills and the latest movements in the web industry, but also an increased passion and drive to ensure Thomas Marsden delivers the most current and future proof web experience for all of our clients present and in the future.
